It's very telling here when he explains his release from bondage, when he was fired. This church wouldn't allow him to be "free and open, to do anything that God called him to do."
I certainly wouldn't want to have a congregation bind and gag me and throw me in a locked room, and then tell me to lead. It's obvious he was guilty, and couldn't prove himself innocent, of seeking the will of God. Too bad for the congregation.
