Joseph sounds like a total berk. Take God out of it and you have one brother, his father's favourite, consistently put his brothers down throughout their lives telling them that he believed himself to be above them in any sense they might imagine.
In retaliation the brothers, who didn't want to harm him but didn't want to have to listen to him thinking he was better than them for the rest of his days, found a solution to their problem, sell him as a slave.
More likely than what was told in the Bible was that Joseph, sexually assaulted the wife of his master where he was punished for the crime by being put in prison.
As his mental health declined he was able to convince the pharaoh of Egypt into believing he was of use to him by correctly guessing the outcome of two circumstances.
After living in a position of authority in Egypt his family eventually finds him again wherein he lords over them again. What a total piece of shit.
