  1. "Video games desensitize people" Video Games: Helping people cope with disabilities, loss, abandonment, depression, suicide, drug addition, mental illness and giving them the tools to overcome.

  2. There's literally pro gamers, gaming channels, streamers and coaches. In fact some games entirely change people's lives. People do what Jujitsu student's and teachers do with Rocket League, Fortnite, Smite or League. There's teams and teams have coaches. There's also alot of interest which brings revenue because of advertising dollars.

  3. Video games are also known to have even some of the greatest storytelling known, just as books. To me personally some of the characters I play can see myself in and relate too and sometimes find myself questioning the characters choices and make me think in my mind “would I make the same choice?” Or “How can I show hatred for this person when in the characters eyes they only made the choices they did out of heartache and grief” for examples like Joel when he saved Ellie in The Last of Us Pt1 or Abby taking her revenge on Joel in The Last of Us Pt2. These story’s the game developers make are art just as much as the graphics in the game alone are. They can help us grow mentally as well into a more mature mindset like another example is Kratos from God of War, in the beginning after being tricked by the God Ares into killing his family and being put into a forced servitude by the other gods, he went on a warpath to kill all the gods of the Greek pantheon only to later in GOW 2018 and GOW Ragnarok, he finds himself in the Norse Pantheon and there he shows us that what we believe to be impossible can happen for us in our lives, which for those in the Norse belief, believed to be impossible was the ability to change and Kratos did just that by overtime becoming a man who doesn’t let his anger and rage control him and has learned to show, in his own way, love and compassion for all those dear to him. So these games can be and are more than just meets the eye of what we see in them like the beautiful and colorful world of insanity from Crash Bandicoot or the simple but yet creative world of Minecraft. Yes some games are just mindless fun but some of these games are having a multi generational impact on peoples lives just as books did back then and nowadays as well, hopefully they will continue too in the future to come as well. It’s a shame and honestly for me sad that most people don’t understand or just don’t want to understand that anymore.
