I use this exact same example for my students all the time when it comes to what we know and don't know. And even more so when people like to bring up the constitution and old ways of doing things. I simply point to doctors not washing their hands for centuries and even some pushing back once a doctor actually said they should wash their hands. All of those poor babies dying.
