I'm not sure who your guest was, but Trump did try to help them, again he was silenced. The window breakers were ANTIFA. Videos at that moment showed at least 100 fake supporters doing it. Trumpers were screaming, they're ANTIFA stop them. These videos were on YouTube for a week or so, until they were taken down.
