dude hearing two wealthy white guys speculate over poverty is cringy. Homeless you see are "chronically homeless" they are mentally ill and need help. They need addiction treatment, not free money and incentives to live on the road.
Give them homes? Like fucking literally. Give them a damn building to live in. You going to throw them in prison or something?
The thing is that large amounts of homeless have some sort of mental illness, upwards of 25%. More than 50% have or had some form of substance abuse. Cause or effect? Homelessness has increased on a whole not only due to the increase in medical costs, but just look at the overall cost of living increase and income disparity since 1950. The richest 1% hold more than 50% of all the stock held by American households… And the wealthiest .1% own 17% of all household equities. This isn't going to get better, it's going to get worse!
When dealing with irrational problems or people you can't expect to find an answer with rational solutions. At some point we need to question why it is ok that the 1% or .1% own everything 🤔
I don't see an end and it's torturing me mentally. I'd rather catch the virus (which my household already had) than this shit. I miss mingling with people at work and at parties despite my social anxiety. Damn I was ungrateful
