Don't steal from GOD
Thank You for the Sermon. It came as a timely reminder.
Love is not desired by a God, for a God cannot be wanting of anything.
When God's people went into the land of Canaan to take it none of God's people were ever killed. But in this case 36 men out of 3,000 died and they freaked out.
They freaked out because they recognized God wasn't with them. They weren't real tough fighters.
They chickened out quickly because "they realized that they were now liable to destruction" and they didn't have God's protection.
When the Israelites came around the Canaanites were to take what they could carry and leave the land. Everything else they left behind was to be destroyed. Achan kept some things and hid it in his tent. What Achan did cost the lives of 36 men. It took a long process to single out Achan, separating tribe to clan to family to household to man to man, and Achan stayed quiet and didn't come forward until he was singled out by God.
Now Achan feared for his OWN life but had no regard for the lives of others that his disobedience cost. He was stoned along with his family who knew and didn't come forward and kept it a secret.
