They can take a huge chunk out of a very large old oak tree with one swipe, and we are talking the size of a car tire. So if a bear swipes are your face, your pretty much dead. Like that movie with Leonardo DiCaprio as a guy whi survives a bear attack yeah sure when the bear pounced on his chest, he would have been dead.
