That's because we are still hairless apes who unconsciously associate height and overall physical size with power and leadership and vote for much taller than average people. The result is, nearly ALL elected officials are much taller than average and those that are of average, or slightly taller than average, height appear to be short by comparison because we usually see them standing beside or among other elected officials. Bernie looks short standing among other Senators, but it seems, he's actually not short.

Also, if a MALE candidate had danced the way Warren did, he would DEFINITELY be made fun of. Anyone remember what happened to Howard Dean for the "Dean Scream" in the 2004 campaign? He was made fun of so much, it ruined his campaign and that was just for the way he yelled. He didn't even have to dance.
