Goddamnit Joe, I know what was better, growing up in the goddamned 70's! We are about the same age, however I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago in a very idyllic little middle-class, racially mixed community about 30 miles SW of the city, and seriously, everyone got along, no race issues at all. We had freedom…FREEDOM, and nothing is better or sweeter than real freedom. We were gone for hours, on the weekends sometimes gone the whole time, bouncing and crashing at friends houses. No cell phones, no computers, no social media, no bullshit. You wanted to hook up you called someone on their landline, discussed the details, then met up at the agreed upon place and time. You were out with your friends and it was just your friends, no constant barrage from the cell phone interrupting the fun and adventure, simply enjoying life with your friends. Priceless.
Hell even in the 80’s and early 90’s I remember all the kids on my street basically being locked out of our houses during the day and we all would just play games hang out ride our bikes go swimming etc. that was normal. It’s the shit like the channel ID all the crime shows and the News only showing the bad shit.
