Mental illness and/or savior complex. Trauma bonding is when a person becomes attached to certain circumstances through cycles of traumatic experiences. If a girl has daddy issues or has experienced abuse before, then it’s possible she will seek out similar environments in the future. That and a lot of women want to massage their egos via “fixing” broken losers. Painting female characters as saintly nurturers in media hasn’t helped with this.
