While most people highlight the allegedly "warlike" and "savage" nature of the North American Original Peoples most just ignore that they also had civilisations, built pyramids monuments and city complexes and observatories for looking at the stars, figured out the "three sisters" form of agriculture, had various forms of judicial processes, tribal government and a forms of democracy, they even had a federation of different natons with a constitution….both of which influenced our own.
Will the people who profit from California reparations give all of it to native Americans? Runaway slaves and freed slaves took part in murdering , taking native Indians lands. Some even enslaved native Americans. After the civil war Abraham Lincoln and the Republicans passed the 40 acres 1 mule amendment for all slaves. After Lincoln was killed the Democrats repelled it, most freed slaves lost the 40 acres, some kept their 40 acres. Some had stayed on the plantations but got paid for their labor.

The reason we appeared "primitive" to the European plague is because we had anywhere from a 5,000-15,000 year delay compared to the rest of the world. This was due to the fact that while the rest of the Eurasian world had gotten settled into their respective territories and began technological development, we were still traveling into the Americas through a once landlocked bridge connecting Siberia and Alaska. The simple truth is we WERE developing and the Aztec, Maya and Inca were proof of our technological prowess given such a short amount of time. The other reason for our slow development was due in part to our general respect of nature and a deep understanding of the finite resources of the land and fragile ecosystem we were a part of. I feel it very fitting that white guys are talking diminutively about us Native folk whilst a U.S flag is on full display behind them.

What to do? I can name a few: the USA could start by honoring the treaties that they broke and return the land to the original inhabitants. Then, freedom of religion, freedom from federal, state or local authorities , freedom of organizing as a sovereign tribe, freedom of native speech, write a factually correct history about what has happened, equality for the law, recognize native people law, etc, etc.
