Baruch the scribe of Jeremiah describes in this text how God had warned Jeremiah about the coming destruction of Jerusalem, and its holy Temple. Jeremiah warns the people and the king about the coming destruction but his warning is not heeded and the people are then taken into exile for what would be the next 70 years. In reading this text it reminds me of exactly where America is right now as a nation which is betraying the institutions and commandments
