My cholesterol is bad from TRT and the doctor prescribed me statins first thing. I found it a bit alarming how quickly they jumped to prescribing statins, although I can't say I'm surprised based on all the terrible and questionable experiences I've had with the U.S healthcare system. I said I'd been trying to eat more fiber and they asked if that was for stool issues, I'd read that high fiber intake helps keep cholesterol balanced so I was surprised I was the one who had to make the connection between fiber and cholesterol for the doctor. I filled the lipitor 10mg but I don't plan to take it. I'm trying niacin and citrus bergamot first. If that along with improving my diet fails then I'll ask to be prescribed ezetamibe because the side effects I've read about for statins like muscle pain/weakness and brain fog would be horrible for me. Working out is one of the best medicines I have. And I don't want to regress on the improvements I've made regarding brain fog. Although I do think the standard medical understanding of cholesterol is most likely inaccurate, I'm not going to gamble on it being entirely wrong. So I'd like to get my HDL up and my triglycerides and LDL out of the high reference range.
