4:01 — I attended a clinic in NJ featuring Gable in 2003. He was in his early 50's I think at the time, maybe a touch older. The clinic was for kids, young kids through high school. I was only there watching from the bleachers with a couple of friends who were high school coaches. Before the clinic, like 20 minutes or more prior to the start, Gable was in the back of the gym warming up with the kind of intensity that most Senior level athletes don't even attempt. He was taking shots, doing jumps, slapping his arms and legs like a madman… He was really working himself into a lather. And all of it was just so he could be prepared to teach techniques and drills at a clinic for kids.
inateresting, I appreciate Dan's honesty to admit the loss 'haunts' him to this day, but that it was good for him…..golden man, golden words. thanks Joe!
