I think a Person with ADHD has 10x or 1000% increase for substance abuse. ADHD is not a good description. There are multiple problems with executive functions.. A neurotransmiter called dopamine is in short supply and does not allow the nuerons to communicate The same nuerotransmitter dopamin is in short supply in the pleasure reward center of the brain. the kids react to that instant stimulation. And in that pleasure reward center there is more of an expolsion of dopamin from stimulants. i hope someone who knows an achoholic reads this.
It's quite easy to talk about and laugh about being black out drunk in a glamorous way but this lady must have been living off her parents money in order to afford all the alcohol she wasted and get away with being drink for 12 years without ending up on the street. A normal person wouldn't have anyone to bail them out and would end up dead on the streets. In these podcasts ms videos you never see regular people being interviewed as their stories are alot sadder and don't end well. Romanticising and glamourising drugs and alcohol is so damaging for society that it's frightening.
its so dumb how we talk about genetics and environment as seperate entities. no human has ever lived without an environment.
