The missing link from this 'word' is a science…a science called Righteousness that Almighty God deemed we couldn't understand in its purest form but that we could still live through and enjoy the fruits of, if we followed His Son, Yeshua/Jesus Christ, accurately. Isaiah 7:14 had two prophetic times or instances, such as in about 761 B.C.E., since a young inexperienced newly installed king now sat on the throne, a two nation coalition of Syria and the ten tribe kingdom of Samaria wanted to do this: "Let us go up against Judah and tear it apart and conquer it for ourselves, and let us appoint the son of Tabʹe·el as its king."(Isa 7:6)
About twenty year King Ahaz of Judah was being threatened by King Rezin of Syria and King Pekah of Samaria, to overthrow him and place their own man on the throne, a coup d etat you might say.(Kings 16:1, 2) Though there is recorded several coups in the kingdom of Samaria in the Bible, so that the kingly lineage changed (1 Kings 15:25-29; 16:8-12; 2 Kings 15:23-25), God could not allow this to happen to the two tribe kingdom of Judah, for it was through this kingly lineage that the promised Messiah was to come.(2 Sam 7:12)
So, at Isaiah 7, when King Rezin of Syria and King Pekah of Samaria made their threat, God made a way out to prevent this from happening, saying: "This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah (God's name, see Isaa 12:2, KJV) says: “It will not succeed, nor will it take place. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Reʹzin. Within just 65 years (or in about 696 B.C.E.) Eʹphra·im (or the tribe that represented the ten tribe kingdom of Israel) will be completely shattered and cease to be a people. The head of Eʹphra·im is Sa·marʹi·a and the head of Sa·marʹi·a is (Pekah) the son of Rem·a·liʹah."(Isa 7:7-9)
To show his support for Judah, he said prophetically, first telling young Ahaz to ask for "a sign", no matter how high or low (Isa 7:10, 11), to show that he would free Judah from Syria and Samaria threats, but which Ahaz refused, so that Jehovah now says: "Therefore, Jehovah himself will give you a sign: Look ! The young woman (which was Isaiah's wife, Isa 8:3, 4) will become pregnant and will give birth to a son, and she will name him Im·manʹu·el. He will eat butter and honey by the time that he knows how to reject the bad and choose the good. For before the boy knows how to reject the bad and choose the good, the land of the two kings whom you dread will be completely abandoned. Jehovah will bring against you and against your people and against the house of your father a time such as has not come since the day Eʹphra·im broke away from Judah, for He will bring the king of As·syrʹi·a."(Isa 7:14-17; Note: Because Ahaz showed no faith Jehovah, God allowed the Assyrians to do extensive damage to Judah, but no change in the kingship lineage, Isa 8:6-8)
To show that "God is with us", that Jehovah was going to prevent any disruption of the kingly lineage all the way to the Messiah (see Gen 49:10, that says that "the scepter will not depart from Judah…..until Shiloh [meaning "He to Whom it Belongs"] comes", that is Jesus Christ), Jehovah sent the Assyrians to take down both the kingdom of Syria and Samaria, for Isaiah 7:18-20 states: "In that day Jehovah will whistle for the flies from the distant streams of the Nile of Egypt and for the bees in the land of As·syrʹi·a, and they (the Assyrian army) will all come and settle down on the steep valleys, on the rocky clefts, on all the thornbushes, and on all the watering places. “In that day by means of a hired razor from the region of the River, by means of the king of As·syrʹi·a, Jehovah will shave the head and the hair of the legs, and it will sweep away the beard as well", which happened in about 759 B.C.E.
And the second time and greater prophetic meaning that "Immanuel" is used is at Matthew 1, whereby the apostle Matthew quotes from Isaiah 7:14, and then points out that "God is with us" by his sending his "only-begotten Son", Jesus Christ (John 3:16), to save obedient mankind from sin and death.(Matt 1:22, 23; Isa 25:6-9; Rev 21:3-5)
