It's far too woke , 60s 70s USA and they have black, female astronauts , female flight directors . Skipping foward 10 yrs and a gay female president who us loved accepted and voted for 2nd term .. some wa-ky director decided to re write history to suit his modern day standards; which is a insult to blacks, woman of all color and everyone else that has struggled for acceptance and thier human rights , its also a insult to that generation of astronauts that pioneered the moon landing… even with the eoke bullshit s1 and s2 were excellent, then it became star trek
If the US really lost the space race, it’s completely believable they would have gone full escalation to try and have a win like in the series. I couldn’t imagine the effect losing the space race would have had on the American psyche
