The Ingle Gym has does very little heavy sparring ,they do mostly technical sparring and body sparring, yet they have turned out several champions including Prince Naseem Hamed , Johnny Nelson, Junior Witter etc. In interviews Dominic Ingle often states"when looking at our fighters faces now, you wouldn't know they were boxers.
sparring also makes fighters. the more you spar at the higher levels, the better you get. but yea there's a cost. no way to replace the combat stress a great faces to become a champion imo
Either do touch sparring which is always light shots, or do light/medium to the head and hard to the body. Hard sparring should never be a regular thing but is US boxing gym culture a lot of people have egos the size of Everest and will try to take your head off, whereas in in Europe and in Cuba they don't spar hard, its all about speed, movement, timing, distance and techniques as opposed to power shots that will eventually give you cte
