Melissa Chen isn't the appropriate individual to engage with on this matter. Her views don’t reflect the broader Singaporean populace or those who have lived and worked in Singapore. Historically, she was a fervent supporter of Amos Yee, a known critic of Singapore who, at the time, aimed to offend the multi-religious harmony of the country. Eventually, legal action and public opinion turned against him, leading to his prosecution. She then aided Amos Yee in his clandestine escape to the United States and supported his asylum claim there, claiming he was a victim of political persecution in Singapore due to his outspokenness. She identified with Amos Yee because, like her, he shared an uneasy relationship with Singapore. However, she ultimately abandoned Amos Yee prior to his incarceration in the U.S. and sentenced to six years' jail in US for child pornography, grooming. In my view, her judgment and viewpoints are unique to her and do not align with mine or the larger community. She is not the most enlighteded balanced person to talk to, she does not have all the facts correct.
Interesting to see how the PAP trolls keep commenting on these three years ago video
Singapore is not a first world country, it’s run by the triads
Singapore. Well organised, orderly and very low crime rate. They could be considered the original "fk around and find out" nation.
Singapore shoes that a country can be developed without Western values. The West could learn a thing or two from them.
