  1. Minimum wage is a ridiculous concept to begin with , Joe Rogan. If I'm a house painter and I'm making $10/hour for example, I might go and ask my boss for a raise. He might so "no"; for a myriad of reasons. So let's say I go over and talk to the bossman at another house painting outfit and ask them if they're hiring. Maybe he's really shorthanded and would be happy to pay me $15/hour if I would jump ship. I've just leveraged myself to make more money. No federal minimun wage needed.
Here's another example. Let's say I want to learn to be an electrician and I have absolutley no experience. If there's a minimum wage of let's say $15/hour, no company would hire me because I'm not worth it. But let's say there's no minimum wage and I offer to work for free and get "paid" in experience? There's no risk to the company of losing money because they're getting free labor; even if itnis unskilled. And after some time I'll learn the trade and eventually I'll have enough knowledge to be worth $15/hour, and hopefully a lot more down the road.
The minimun wage is an IMPEDIMENT to raising living standards.

  2. then why the hell did she come to 3rd world country like america and should have stuck in homogenous plain vanilla country like singapore. How many years back did Singapore get independence and how many people live there. America is still the place for all people to come and flourish and prosper.

  3. I’m going to be blunt and honestly state that Singapore is a great place to visit, but not a great place to live permanently. I understand that the US has it’s own share of issues, however I would say that there are a lot of opportunities, freedoms, and flexibility in the US as compared to Singapore.

If you’re unsatisfied with your life in a certain area, state, etc. You have 49 other states to move to, plenty of other areas to find where you feel comfortable living. With Singapore, if you’re unsatisfied, where else would you go? The structure is entirely the same.

She complains about differences in the US, but it is not about conforming, but rather seeking and finding ways to adjust and be able to coexists with one another despite all the differences, and I feel that the US still takes this lead over Singapore.

She is free to complain all she wants about the US, but yet lives in the US. There is a clear reason as to why she does not live in Singapore.

  4. The part about the size of government not mattering so much as its effectiveness is a such an obvious, simple and yet shockingly not very common concept, or at least, not one that is mentioned enough, by either side.
