I do not think that your view of Samson's downfall is correct, not to argue or cause problems.
I think that the reason Samson was overcome was because he LOVED Delilah, TOO MUCH if anything i think Samson was overcome because of lust / covetousness… His father warned him by asking "Son isn't there a woman from our own people that you would marry?" but he Loved Delilah and would consider no other…
I think Samson loved her, and figured if he loved her enough she might love him as much as he loved her, I believe he saw things in her that weren't right, but ignored them. I think by him telling Delilah his secret weakness that he showed that maybe his love and lust for Delilah more than outweighed his bond with GOD… To say Samson was unaware that he had enemies that wanted him dead? How is that possible with as many philistines as he had to kill, and that attacked him?
He saw that Delilah tried to weaken him over, and over when he told her false answers to his secret, he saw this… I do not believe Samson was stupid… I think he overlooked these things because he wanted to be with her more than life itself, and hoped she could feel the same.
She nagged him, she manipulated him, she seduced him to get his secret, but he wouldn't tell, then one day the truth of who she really was, was sitting before his face in an undeniable way. He probably couldn't overlook it anymore and said to himself i wont believe that "I am going to lay it all on the table, my secret, my heart, and everything I am, I shall give her all of this and seeing this, all of me laid bare before her she will have mercy on me, and love me as i love her, with my life in her hands, she wont betray me, but if she does then I don't want to live anyway"
So he did, and so she betrayed him… I feel that this is what may have happened, because if you notice Samson requested only his strength be returned when he righted himself with GOD between those pillars, so that he could finish his purpose, but he did not ask for return of his sight? I don't think Samson ever intended to walk away from that, and continue onward but to end it then and there.
No Samson wasn't a stupid man, he wasn't oblivious, he was a man like all men, a man with a special purpose, a man who loved in the wrong way, a man like me, who let covetousness overrule his good sense, giving all he was to a woman of the world knowing full well who she was, but because of his misguided and intense love / lust gave her everything he was and she a child of the world used it all to destroy him.
But alas Samson DID right himself with GOD and fulfilled his purpose.
People like to think that its a love story gone wrong….most people actually missed the lesson about the tragedy of samson…. The Fall of Samson like the fall of the whole of Mankind is DISOBEDIENCE OF GOD . He didnt listen to God! He knew he had to stay away from alcohol! but he had to have a good time and get drunk … he was too drunk to realized he was being played. too drunk he talked too much and revealed the source of his power, and later too drunk to realize that his head was being shaved….
