I just realized the psychology of physically abusive women. (Not saying Angela is abusive, it's just how she described the reasoning.)
So some women hit (slap, punch) their male partner, because he is bigger, and he can take it.
Plus, they can pull the Shame card if he ever auto-reacts or defends himself. And they can then tell ALL his friends and family what he did – so the Village can punish him.
And these Control & Power plays work even better if she is small and petite.
