    The reason Barabbas came into the scene, was that he is the seed of the serpent, like Cain. He was preferred to Jesus, by the Jews, because he physically fought their enemies- the Romans, which Jesus refused to do, but kept talking about an invisible Father and kingdom, instead. Jesus Christ is the Son of the woman- the Seed of Eve, Who will crush the head of the seed of the serpent, who in turn will bruise His heel. Cain killed Abel, Lamech killed a man and got wounded in the process Genesis 4:23; Absalom bruised the heel of David, and his head was crushed, so to speak. Jesus Christ's heel was bruised on the cross, where He crushed the head of the serpent who had the power of death. He died, was buried and was raised up from the dead on the third day. He ascended to heaven and sat at the right hand of God the Father, waiting till all His enemies become footstool for His feet. He will return after the Holy Spirit lifts up believers to meet Him in the air, and take them up to present faultless before the presence of the Father, with exceeding joy. The man of sin, had been wounded, died, and is now being prepared to rise up and live, in order to deceive the people who had chosen him and to get his mark, which he believes had kept him from being hunted and killed for his murder of his brother, Abel. Genesis 4:15. He is placing this type of mark on anyone who follows him, so they can live a long life and not have to answer for their sins, instead, escape into virtual reality.
   The Jews preferred that Barabbas be released to them, instead of their King and Messiah, Jesus Christ: whom they teach about daily, in their synagogue, yet, didn't recognize when He was in their midst, and they'd rather He was killed, as He meant nothing to them, compared to Barabbas the thief and murderer (like his ancestors).
   Barabbas means "son of the father", just like Jesus Christ is the "Son of man, and the Only Begotten Son of God the Father". Barabbas is the seed of the serpent who the Jews preferred to the Seed of the woman, Jesus.
   He was a murderer, like satan his father, and all before him, bave been from the beginning. He was in lock- up until Jesus Christ finished His work of Salvation, and the Jews, for whom He came, had rejected and condemned Him to death by crucifixion- an accursed death, in place of the one who really deserved it- Barabbas. (Absalom died a cursed death by hanging on a tree, and his source of pride – his heart was shot with three javelins. He died and was buried in a pit as prophesied in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28. So, satan wanted to get revenge, by hiring vain men to shout "crucify Him", instead of just getting stoned or a lesser punishment). But as soon as all those who live by believing in Him and have accepted Him as Lord and Savior and are sealed and filled and led by His Holy Spirit, are taken out of the world, the Jews will be presented with the "anti or in- place- of"- Christ, they had chosen, who will be manifested to the world as their messiah, and he will then show his true colors after the first 3.5 years. The temple will be rebuilt, and he would present himself as their messiah, showing them his wounds and proof of his death and resurrection. That is why he hasn't been talked about since then, now the time is drawing near. Be not deceived. By their fruits, ye shall know them. Genesis 3:15, ; 1 John 3:10.
    
   Just as Moses transitioned to Joshua; Eli Samuel; King Saul David; Elijah – Elisha, John the Baptist -Jesus and Jesus – Barabbas.
   John was imprisoned after He passed the baton, and Baptized Jesus into His Ministry as the Messiah, Son of David and King of Israel, likewise, Barabbas was imprisoned throughout Jesus’s Ministry, and was let out as Jesus was beginning His procession to fulfilling His purpose of the redemption of man, That was why Jesus Christ sent us the Holy Spirit to help us deal with the prince of this world), the prince of the power of the air that works in the life of the disobedient, (John 14:30; Ephesians 2:2) until the redemption of His purchased possession, we Believers in Him, then that son of perdition will be revealed. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10.
   The Jews exchanged Jesus Christ, their Messiah, for the devil, a robber and a murderer, and they will also mistake the devil for their Messiah in tha last days!
   They didn't know the time of their visitation: just like when God told them to go conquer the promised land, they refused and told Him there were giants, but later proceeded to enter, when that window of opportunity had been shut!
   The devil began his plan through the man that was planted in the very midst of the disciples – Judas Iscariot, a thief and a murderer, and he is still operating – to steal, kill and destroy, up till now until Jesus Christ returns for us. But we have the victory already, we are made more than conquerors, for He came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly in Him!
   Barabbas did what the Jews expected a Messiah would do: defend them from the tyranny of the Romans,  fight and even kill for them and deliver them, thus, for this cause, Judas agreed to betray him to the authorities, until he later realized his mistake- by then it was too late. That's one of the reasons that even Peter, took out his sword to fight, thinking that, finally we can start to use the sword He told us to go purchase Luke 22:38- how they must have been disappointed in Him, for every one of them to run away and leave Him alone when He was arrested!
   Many got offended by Jesus Christ because all He did was perform miracles and fed them. He didn't act like a king or Deliverer would, or that He was even remotely interested in their plight. They were disappointed in Him, and they rejected Him outright and chose a hero- they were walking by sight, because as Jews, they always sought for signs!
    That was also why the desciples went back fishing after His death, forgetting He had told them that He would be raised up the third day! They never understood anything He shared with them Luke 18:31 so, they lost all hope. John 21:3. 
   John 8:44, 18:39-40, 16:3-4, 14:30-31, 12:31; Luke 23:19; Acts 3:14; Genesis 4: 1-25, until He breathed His Spirit of life unto them John 20:22, like God did to Adam, Genesis 2:7, and to Abraham, as the chosen one through whom the promised Seed would come- from Abram and Sarai, to AbraHam and saraH!!! That's what gives life and understanding of God to man, because they carry God by His Spirit, on the inner man! (Romans 8:9, no breath of Life, no God!)
   He is Faithful and True to perform all His promises. Believe and abide in Him until He returns!.
