  1. Quentin, before you it was exactly Scorsese who already done that to gangster genre what you describe. Goodfellas was only his second film in that genre after Mean Streets – and Mean Streets wasn't focused at mafia gangs that much, more like at the everyday life of street thugs. Scorsese changed the gangster crime genre too and set the standards anew in 1990.

  2. In 94 when I was 15 my mom had this idea all of us in my family should see all 5 films nominated for the Oscar. Pulp Fiction was the last. My parents hated it. I loved it. After that I started watching more independent and foreign films than Hollywood blockbusters which was my norm. All because I read interviews with Tarantino after watching PF and he mentioned all these films and directors from world cinema I had never heard of. Watching Pulp Fiction changed the course of my life.
