This was such an amazing and inspiring podcast. I will be moving into an ashram in the next month or two Krishna willing.
Joe had a surprisingly condescending and almost offended sort of reaction to Ray here and I am very surprised. Perhaps its because Joe is so comfortable with violence and never really set foot in the ghetto on his own, but he almost seemed like he was close to calling bullshit on an East coast hardcore monk and thats wild.
😮When I was a kid my mom asked me if I wanted to learn golf or tennis and I told her I wanted to go study martial arts at a studio in Van Nuys run by my childhood hero from "Enter the Dragon" Chuck Norris. One time when I was 11 Chuck even showed up and sparred with me, showing me a few moves, like I realize this sounds insane but he picked me out of a crowd and said "Come here kid, let me teach you how to fight." Years later in a state of despair over my father's death I was dragged into an alley by two guys and beaten within an inch of my life, one of them held me while the other one punched me repeatedly, and I knew the kid hitting me from the street and I said "Hey man, don't kill me, you're going to go to prison like your brother, don't do it!" I struggled to get free, throwing the guy behind me elbows and when I could lift up an arm before it was yanked down I'd move it around in a windmill fashion and then be hit in the head again, I was starting to get really bloody and there was a truly inspiring power of Peace and Rationality from God that got me through that fight, because I basically talked my way through it at the end the kid hitting me threw me into the side of a dumpster breaking a couple of ribs and kicked me in the forehead leaving a boot mark on my forehead. So thank you Jesus for giving me the piece to get through that, and fight and thank you Chuck Norris for your help too, because JESUS is MY REDEEMER. – But CHUCK NORRIS SAVED MY LIFE!😅
