I'm not aware of any Catch tournaments in the 90's although I think there was a Shoot Wrestling Japanese champion who competed in the same Shooto/Vale Tudo tourny as Rickson.
We had a group of friends who did Submission Grappling in the MacArthur Park area in 2001ish, I knew of the Catch guys at the Santa Monica HS but never went, what an idiot, even worse I could of trained at Beverly Hills JJ with Bas, Oleg and Ruas. Rickson's place wasn't that far from me either. SOB
