Paul is showing support for proxy baptism, or baptism for the dead. As the bible states, and as Jesus shows by example, baptism is necessary for salvation, those who died without ordinance of baptism need a proxy baptism so the ancient saints performed this ordinance on behalf of those who would need it. During the time Jesus' body was in the tomb, Jesus went to teach those who were in spirit prison; thus the need to baptize by proxy.
Everyone will receive a resurrected body. While they will be spiritual, they will also be immortal and corporeal or physical. Jesus ate, and was touched after his resurrection. But he could also appear in the upper room where the apostles met. The bodies individuals will receive will be determined by their earthly works. This is where the versus of the three heavens are misunderstood. Our bodies will be resurrected based on our works in this life and can be compared to the glories of the sun moon and stars (1 Cor 15:39-42). Paul, in 2 Cor 12:2, discusses the third heaven. This is the highest level or the glory that is equated to the sun. Those who will be with Christ and will receive eternal life will receive a body comparative to the sun, and will live with the Father and the Son in the Third Heaven; which is God's eternal kingdom.
