Didn't Jesús say that we sleep until judgment when we awake from our long slumber to participate in the great awakening then we are judged. Beyond that it's either torment of our own creation under the rule of the prince of earthly wanderings or its to Heaven for those who qualify
The spirit returns to the Lord. A person in Christ returns to the Lord in the third heaven where awareness of everything in creation is made more understandable and enlightened.
