I remember as a 16yr old kid wanting to go my own way to take drugs ect and my uncle trying to give me a bible study on the subject? I was so annoyed that he answered all my questions from the bible and even using this passage and getting down to the Greek translation that equated this stuff to a root word of Pharmakia or druggery. I still went my own way but always with the knowledge that I was effectively taking part in spiritism and that it was linked to demons.
Babylon was the birthplace of Astrology and clearly looking for omens in the stars and the practice of divination must of been a very real and dangerous thing for God to see fit to warn us about. Nimrod was known as a mighty hunter in opposition to God and it’s so clear to see that all of the worlds false religious beliefs are all basically the same because they originate from the same place before they were forced to spread out on the Earth and take their beliefs with them. It’s for this reason imo that every single native tribe around the world all use drugs to tap into the very real rulers of this system of things.
Born-Again bigotry throws the baby out with the bathwater, forgetting that in Old Testament times, there were no benevolent spirits mingling with humanity. Humans were bad buggers while they were alive and they remained invisible bad buggers when they died. Nobody went to Heaven unless they had incarnated direct from Heaven on some mission commissioned by God. This was the reason God and Christ issued strict instructions for spiritual communication to the Israelites whom they had chosen to lead into the right conditions for God's Plan of Redemption enabling the eventual incarnation of a Redeemer.
Out of ignorance the term "medium" has been given a derogatory connotation. A medium is simply an "intermediary" between the invisible and physical worlds. Hundreds of thousands of humans world-wide are born with spiritual gifts which can manifest within and outside of traditional Christianity. Great musicians and composers are mediumistic in that they first hear the beautiful melodies in their minds or with their spiritual ears just as those with the gifts of prophecy hear the words that they speak out or write down. All the technology that now floods the world, whether for good or evil, is first received as a thought or picture in the mind of the inventors. Humans are incapable of creating anything out of nothing – everything we do begins with a thought. Even the Bible states that: "Nothing exists on earth that has not first existed in the Spiritual World." Humans have to be discerning as it is obvious that there are both benevolent and malevolent forces influencing human minds – "by their works yea shall know them".
The Pentecostal movement has it's fair share of so-called "familiar spirits" mingling amongst believers with tidbits of information or "word of knowledge" regarding circumstances or health of fellow parishioners in need of help or relief for their dire conditions.
