  1. I am a purple belt and I train a far amount of BJJ students. My advice is not to “breath” but to actively “exhale”. This seems to be an easier thing to remember under stress.

I actually really love the explanation for when your tired, you don’t want to be sucking air, you want as little attention to it as possible and you get that best with the best breathes which are full ones, so just getting out the carbon dioxide is what you want to do really, cause you’re flooded with it from using all your oxygen, the oxygen is gonna come back on the inhale which is gonna happen regardless when winded, so it’s definitely better to focus on the exhale and i also really like how he mentions you feel claustrophobic which is honestly like wow I never thought of describing being tired like that but it works, it’s like your body is telling you to deflate or sm😂
