  1. I'll mention two easy to digest resources that will help you draw a new conclusion on this matter. As a JRE listener, you probably are open to new info and the story of the US in Afghanistan is confusing but may leave you with the same opinion for different reasons or a different opinion for the same reasons. Listen to several seasons of 2 well done but definitely politically biased podcasts coincidentally by the same name. "Conflicted: A History Podcast" from Evergreen Podcasts has a season on the Russian Invasion of Afghanistan and on the Shia-Sunni split. To truly understand the US conflict you have to go back way further than the 1979 invasion and after the Shia-Sunni split, but it's a good place to start that will, if nothing else introduce several names you've never heard of, several you have and several more you've heard of but didn't know were involved. Once you know the characters in the the Soviet-Afghan conflict and some reasons why Shia and Sunnis aren't the same, you'll understand a bit more about how the Taliban are not the Muhj and how they co-existed then fought for Afghanistan and why the Taliban (who are not Al-Qaeda) welcomed Bin-Laden. Next, listen to the other podcast of the same name but different hosts: CONFLICTED, this time by Message Heard media. The hosts are quite biased, but also have insider information on terrorism (one of the hosts is a former "terrorist" and Al-Qaeda mole for Mi-6) that few others (especially relevant US intelligence agents) have. The seasons of this show break down the Arab world's conflicts, what the Taliban were after, etc. Even if you don't believe what they say, at least you will know the names of people to look up and inform yourself.

  2. Why China props up N Korea:

    1) Buffer state from S Korea. If N Korea reunites with the South, China would have another adversarial state to deal with. Similar with Pakistan.
    2) Creates and maintain adversary with China's adversaries (mostly democratic states).
    3) Potential allies in case they go to war against the US.

  3. Joe Rogan has no idea about the history of Afghanistan, that whole region was under control of 13 different afghan empires, majority of the Indian empires were started by afghans until Britain came there then afghans fought them. Afghans in history has always been free an history proves that no one can enslave them
