  1. This guy is very well spoken and honest, but more importantly, he is a good listener (even to himself) and very self aware. I had a sudden epiphany while watching this clip that one of the key reasons so many vets comeback completely mentally unprepared for the PTSD is that they are never trained on how to deal with it.

    This is all obvious shit, not epiphany yet, but the epiphany was a parallel I noticed with Joe's relatively recent episode where he had the "Knees Over Toes Guy" as his guest and that guy kept hammering over and over that athletes are taught and trained how to accelerate and how to jump high and explode, but rarely how to put on the breaks, decelerate safely, or for high jumpers, how to land properly… This is very similar, they spend months and years and get millions of dollars spent on training them to become systematic, rational, efficient, cold blooded professionals, but the military never teaches them how to put on the breaks. They do for special forces guys in terms of how to be patient, but that's not quite the same thing unfortunately
