I don't think Americans realise that the Middle Eastern wars really were watered down versions compared to Ukraine where its advanced armies vs advanced armies. When either side does offensives they are no different than canon fodder until the sacrifice realises a breakthrough or until the other retreats. The real numbers of deaths are always dumb downed for propaganda sakes on both sides
They are talking about the battle for the entire provence of Normandy which was around 3 months long. The landing itself had a little over 4000 dead and 10000 wounded.
Meanwhile people these days are getting upset on not being referred to as ‘they’
Those figures are for the whole battle of Normandy, not just D Day
