When Joe asked, “was he in Normandy?” And he replied, “no.” I immediately thought of Norm McDonald saying something like “nah, he was in northern canada” 😂
I remember when Saving Private Ryan came out. A DDAY WWII vet was in a screening and had alluded to the smell of diesel. The vet's comment received a lot of publicity at the time and is well known piece of lore for hardcore SPR fans. It was not this guy's grandpa.
