yeah you never let that go in civilian life. I'm former military, marines, semper fi, and i can say that i'm always on alert still even now. Someone was telling me to take a nap at work yesterday and i explained that i'll never take a nap at work, cant sleep when i'm on post. It's built in me to much, i'm always on some what of an alert to, unless i'm in my own home, im always on alert to some certain extent, thinking bout whats my escape plan, whats my kill weapon, whats the escape plan to the escape plan, who's with me who's not with me, how would i take control of a situation this way or that way. I think bout active shooter situations to think how to get thru that also. You never know what can happen, best thing to do is to do something, dont get caught out there like a deer in headlights. have a plan.
I'm sure I was normal until I was molested at 4 or 5. Changed my world forever at that moment. So no it never goes away. I.m 65 now and live in a very safe retirement community inAZ, and i still check out many things. I never told anyone and had to formulate my own defense mechanisms that stuck. Such is life. Get busy living, or get busy dying., and dying ain't part of me.
