its never is about the art its about flexing who can spend the most money on something as unnecessary as art.
i do hate this conflation between elite people laundering money thru art and claiming themselves as “the art world”, and real, hard working artists. the artists are the art world. we inhabit the land and these rich dicks are colonials who came here and perverted it all.
i like cy twomblys work but when money launderers buy good artists stuff it actually sours the artists name and people begin to hate their shit, which is fcked up imo. nobody these days cares for abstractionism, im not excluded i think its a lil overrated due to these rich bastards and the ones trying to birdcall the rich bastards by throwing buckets of paint on the wall and stapling a pretentious essay to it “explaining” the piece.
That guy seems to have redeemed himself from the first time he was on the podcast and made a complete fool of himself. It was like he was out his mind on meth and was blaming an energy drink 😂
