Ever wonder why the man who is John the Baptist was chosen?
John is a descendant of Aaron and in the Aaronic line of priests. So as an Aaronic priest, he was qualified to present lambs as pure to be sacrificed on the alter to cover the sins of the people. Just like his father Zachariah was. In John 1:29, when John the Baptist saw Jesus, he said “behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”
First: see that God always plans. He had the right guy at the right place at the right time to be qualified to present Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb! God also has a plan for you, if you stay close to Him, you’ll know what it is and if you walk in His plan for you, things will happen at the right place, at the right time.
Second: notice how John said that Jesus would “take away” sin. Under the old covenant, remember, sin was only “covered”. Not “taken away”. Now, when you accept what Jesus did with His sacrifice for you, your sin is GONE! And so is the guilt that goes with it.
Third: notice what John said about Jesus, the Lamb, taking away sin. He said “the sin of the world”. You’re in the world. That means you. That’s personal! All you have to do is accept the sacrifice that He did for you at the cross. Know that you have sin that needs to be taken away, and Jesus is the only pure spotless, sinless sacrifice that can accomplish that. He loves you THAT MUCH!
God loves you THAT MUCH, or He wouldn’t have sent His Son to exchange His righteousness for your sin, so that now, YOU can be righteous and pure and spotless in the sight of God who made you and wants you back.
All that is a free gift. Just take it!
