  1. "-Because when this is over I'm gonna reward myself with X. So it's the way that we bracket our endevours with rewards.
And this is just deeply imbedded in our culture.
And the control aspect is a big part of the addictive aspect, 'cause 'I'm now gonna control the way I feel when I feel it', which is a very different way of living if you were to eliminate rewards as a way to shape time.
If you were to think 'I'm not gonna do anything to reward myself today, I'm just going to get through the day', it totally changes the arc of our experience in the moment."

I had to type this brilliance out to make myself remember it better.
These words right now are hitting me so hard. All these years I've wanted to be in control of my emotions. Somehow somewhere in the back of my mind I think I sort of knew this all along, just couldn't put it to words.

This lady is a gift to our world of pleasure-seeking chaos with her words of wisdom.

  2. Wtf was up with Rogan here? He asked questions like a stoned teenager throughout the podcast. You'd think after having had all these brilliant guests, he'd retain some of the information and knowledge and ask…fkn…"qualified" questions. "What do you mean, tho? What's that? So is it like a duuuuuh? So it's like a duuuuh…"..wake tf up, man. He developed a huge fanbase through fkn ufc and a couple of smart quests and now all these brillian fkn people are using the platform for exposure, but the questions…Jesus…Mattgew Walker, Andrew Hubberman, Rhonda Patrick, David Sinclair…they all cinstantly had to check themselves, be polite and tolerate the questions…none of them could get comfortable, cause they cinstantly had to start their responses to Joe's questions with some kind kf mitigating device, like "Well, not exactly…"…so an episode is three hours long cause it takes them 3-4 minutes to get back to the point every time he asks a rainman question…
