Butthead: “Check it out Beavis, it’s those dudes on Stuart’s lunch box.”
I’ll say this , as someone in the rat race to create music and get “signed” or whatever you want to call it, in a rock/metal genre , that the industry has somehow become more lame than even back in the day. In the early 2000s it was still : build a following by playing shows , mail out physical copies of your music to radio stations with a pic or two and a bio in hopes of them playing your music , doing the same to record labels and them more so wanting to know that your band can draw a crowd before they send some new guy or girl from their label to watch you perform and then make a decision to sign you . Now in 2023 labels want YOU , the band , to pay thousands of dollars for a “package” where they take over your social media and basically get you a following of fans as they “tell your story.” Tell our fuckin story ? What happened to the mystery of a band ? This isn’t American idol . It’s soooooo fuckin lame . It has made me not want to write music anymore . I see bands I love trying to stay relevant these days and it turns my stomach . For instance , smashing pumpkins are on social media with a poll : “what was your favorite song on Siamese dream?” That shit came out in the fuckin 90s. That’s lame to ask that . Tour and create new music and keep your dignity for Fucks sake
Adored MTV back then(but New Pubes On My Cock)..was gratefully forgotten & remained in the past…that is, until now…when I watched this video.
