His lifestyle is what afforded him the Ferrari .
Someone living the way he does , is the same someone would would support the brand. Directly. I,e; by buying a Ferrari .
What "denigrate" means, and what it sounds like it means are 2 completely different things
They aren't just his shoes, they are ones he designed, and is trying to sell more by putting them with a Ferrari. They probably wouldn't care if it was a classy brand or shoe type.

Nothing about cleats? You wear slides with sox, so you don't have to walk in your cleats, on hard surfaces. Ask Soccer & Football players. Not sure if track athletes use them.
