High impact excercise like running or kicking things can wear down knee cartilage but it helps the knee in other ways and makes your bones stronger. Low impact excercises like cycling stimulates regrowth of cartilage but can contribute to reduced bone density. So basically just vary your excercise.
Knee pain is from heel striking the ground. The balls of your feet are for shock absorbtion
Incorrect running will definitely ruin your knees
I say its 50/50
Only time knee problems occurs is muscle imbalances in the lower body. Same shit as when a person only does bench press without working out their rear delts & back.
