Asaph is a prophet…he live in prophet David time…
Asaph was a prophet as Jesus declared in Matthew 13
35 “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the PROPHET, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
Who was this prophet that Jesus quoted? It’s Asaph in
Psalms 78
2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Only thing is, the psalms although are not arranged randomly, they are not in chronological order.
Asaph's psalms 74 and 79 chronologically fall around Jeremiah 40.
These are Asaph's last psalms. David was long dead around this time.
Asaph's psalms 73, 77 and 78 fall somewhere around 1 Chronicles 2-5.
David was alive and reigning over Israel.
So who is Asaph writing psalms during David's reign, and still writing psalms during Jeremiah's prophetic ministry before the Babylonian captivity?
I suspect that Asaph was a pseudonym used by his descendants after his death, similar to the name "the sons of Korah"
