Sounds like the Church guys wanted to control every move of this young king thinking they would be able to get away with it due to his age and inexperience. Dunstan was a bad guy and was actually caught being nefarious towards kings before. The young king should have offed this “Saint” in a brothel in order to tarnish his reputation and lessen his power.
