For all we know, Dinah was NOT raped, and the Hebrew people used this as an excuse to murder and pillage…
I feel so sad for Dinah when I read this story. I have always had several questions about this story. I'd really like to know how Dinah felt, and if she had to live as a desolate woman like Absalom's sister Tamar did after rape. Also, I wonder if Dinah gave in when Shecham wanted to sleep with her. I'm not suggesting she was of loose morals, but maybe she felt it was easier to give in than to be taken by force. Also, I wonder about the culture of Shecham's people, and if it was their custom to take women as their wife without asking. If that's the case, then he wouldn't have seen himself as a rapist. I'll never know the answers this side of heaven, but I will always wonder.
You call her Dai-na(h) but we call her De – nah
I like it, thanks.
So….just let some asshole rape your sister then? It’s like a horror movie. Not just this story, the whole damn book and the last 5000 years.
