Am half native from northern and eastern Mexico and am not PC at all but i don't like the word Indians being used when describing American natives.
Why does she say indian? I'm full native from two tribes pawnee and navajo. And people who don't know that we are not indians we are the first nations who are native Americans still make us look like we don't we don't know how to address us. I bet she couldn't speak her language and perform tribal rituals which are very important to our people. Although still want to be included in 💯 for saying im "Indian," lawyers have silver tongues. that's how treaties were compromised.
look up indigenous tribes of Taiwan and tell me they dont look exactly the same as native alaskans and native americans.
Half and part natives will never be looked at as native. I learned this the hard way living on the rez. Bcs I'm part native they even seem to treat me worse than the white man. I was raised helping my grandmother at natives venues making jewelry and doing pow wows. I don't even know my white heritage. But i can admit they are more excepting to me then I ever was to the natives. They looked at me like a leper and refused to teach me anything about their culture. This hurt my grandmother but she loved me no mater what. Im proud to be part native… but they don't want me to be.
I am Inuit….. they proved my ancestors were here 2k years ago. We get nothing, not even respect. I have no place to go or turn to learn about my ancestors because I wasn't raised as such.
