  1. The Curtis Act of 1898 would be a good topic for a show. By effectively abolishing the remainder of tribal courts, tribal governments, and tribal land claims in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma, the act enabled Oklahoma to be admitted as a state, which followed in 1907.

  2. Disease was devastating to our tribe… how it was introduced is the question. We (Tlingit) were over 100k strong. We are now just reaching up to 32k again. That is with some Haida tribe brothers added because the US Can. border divides Haida Nation. So, recovery numbers are much lower. Of course, my dad was adopted out in the 40's to a white woman. The govt pushed that for decades. It took about 70 years for them to to find us and enroll us in out nation.
