Goggins is like one side of the coin. If you're recovering from certain type of self-hate laden depression like I was, calling yourself a bitch in front of the mirror doesn't help but does further damage. Yeah I got into running but my depression / hate got worse. What worked for me was loving kindness meditation. Daily meditated compassion towards myself and others. There's no "taking souls" in that practice and it's the opposite of calling yourself or anyone else a bitch for what they're going through.
That being said! Goggins is a badass and when you're not using his stuff for recovering from a mental health issues, he has an amazing mindset for people to stop whining and getting out there. Just sometimes you need to get to inner work to heal certain stuff and not just run and call yourself a bitch 😀 so, horses for courses:
1) Goggins for stopping making excuses and getting your ass off the couch to run and workout
2) Therapists and spiritual masters (legit, real ones) for the mental health side. And medication of course if you really need it, I personally am getting out of medication with meditation and therapy.
My boss read his book, trained for a month, lost weight attitude changed, and after that he relapsed.
I jus finished David Goggins's book. I read it during rests between sets of exercise. Felt it only fitting. Do push-ups, rest for as little as possible, while reading David Goggins, do more push-ups, wash, rinse, repeat.
I can smell the weed through my screen.
Waking up at noon, having energy at night and being able to sleep after benching my max is something I cannot relate with.🤷🏼♂️
