  1. They were doing partial push ups which means that they were keeping constant tension on the chest only. Going all the way up takes the load off of the chest and puts it on the shoulders, triceps and back. Partial push ups like they were doing are not "bullshit" if you want to build a thick chest/good pump. Bodybuilders do them as do the most jacked prisoners. I did them in high school as a Wrestler for a warm up with a 30/20 split for 4 sets. My chest was always pumped afterwards.
