I don't think I've ever heard so much stupidity in so few minutes. This guest is talking nonsense. Do Americans have history lessons in school? The Spanish pushed back the Moors after centuries of occupation where Christians had to pay dhimmi to Muslims. Do you really think this would be done nicely? The capital of the Roman Empire was moved for military and economic reasons, as trade with Asia was as important as it is today. But I imagine that a guy in a chair has more political finesse about what to do than the leader of the greatest Western empire that ever existed. The Roman Empire, whether Western or Eastern, existed for almost 2000 years, with a technological and cultural lead over its contemporaries that still makes it the benchmark to which all Westerners compare themselves and draw inspiration. In fact, all Western empires, whether consciously or not, have tried to become its successors, with varying degrees of success.

The British took a pounding of their own Armada soon after the Spanish defeat. But it’s not widely popular therefore almost forgotten in history.
